"The Sinking Moon has Left the Sky..." 19 x 9 x ˝ inches Polymer transfer of a drawing by Simeon Solomon "Sappho" from 1862. Polymer transfer of a fragment of a poem by Sappho. Celestite from Mina La Ilusion, Paila, Coahuila, Mexico. Mother of pearl cabochon, moonstone beads, crystal bead, freshwater pearls, felted wool, Japanese and Czech seed beads. Embroidered on felt, backed with leather. Signed and dated on the back: "Blume 2006"
“The Sinking Moon…” was part of "Fiber Directions 2007" at the Wichita Center for the Arts, March 16 - May 20, 2007. Juror: Jason Pollen, president of the Surface Design Association and professor and chair of the fiber arts department at the Kansas City Art Institute. It won the Honorable Mention Award.
This piece was also part of the 31st Annual Contemporary Craft Exhibition at Mesa Contemporary Arts, Mesa, Arizona, 2010. Juror: Jane Sauer, Jane Sauer Gallery, Santa Fe, New Mexico
